Service

We offer Air Tightness Testing of domestic dwellings throughout England and Wales. Based in Yorkshire, Sustainable Designs provides a friendly service, with tests available to suit you – including weekends. 

We are fully qualified professionals, registered with The British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing for Air Tightness Testing.

We can provide a quote on the same day of your enquiry so your test can be organised as quickly as possible. 

Our main aim is to ensure that your property will pass and so any advice will be given on site, prior to the test. A chance for any small work to be carried out will be given. 

We can offer a Guarantee Pass scheme with your quote so you are assured we are working to do everything we can to make sure your property passes.

Acoustic Testing

Service

An Acoustic Test (also know as a Sound Test or Sound Insulation Test), is required for compliance with Part E Building Regulations. The method for measuring the field airborne sound insulation of building elements is given in BS EN ISO 140-4:1998.

We offer Acoustic Testing throughout England and Wales - which involves a technician conducting the test on site (taking around 2 hours), followed by the Report - consisting of Test Results and Test Certificate. This test is required on New Build and Refurbishment (change of use) projects.

We can also offer Design advice at an early stage, which we can then offer guarantees to the final testing of a development when required. After seeing the Architectural Drawings, we can then organise a consultancy meeting

We also carry out many type of environmental noise assessments mainly to support planning applications.  These are required to demonstrate that particularly noisy sites are suitable for residential development (PPG24 assessment) and to demonstrate that mechanical equipment installed externally will not cause nuisance in existing residential areas (BS4142).

Note. Technicians are accredited through the ANC as required by building control bodies. Some smaller acoustic testing firms are not accredited and therefore there is a significant risk of their test results not being accepted. Sustainable Designs recommends always using accredited technicians for testing work.
